Recognition of the powerful bison’s spirit that reminds us of our capacity to turn and face challenge head on, to remember who we are and what we are made of. When we connect deeply with the natural world, we connect with the entirety of our human nature as well.

This style of hand-illustrated engraving has been around since the 1800s. A panel of Masonite is covered with white clay and then a thin layer of black ink on top. Jennifer uses a small Xacto blade and mini fiberglass brush to carve through the black ink hair-by-hair, exposing variable degrees of the white clay beneath.

Two sizes of prints are available of the original 24x36" hand-engraved portrait: 12x18" and 20x30". Archival inks on Smooth Matte paper produce rich velvety blacks and a wide range of tones to capture every detail of the original engraving. Paper print has no border to keep focus squarely on the bison’s intensity and to allow freedom for personal framing options. The larger 20x30" print is permanently mounted on 3mm black styrene to provide structure and minimize bending during handling; mounted print is lightweight and very easily framed.

These fine art paper prints come either unframed (“print only”), or there are several options for high-quality traditional framing or float framing (pictures of frame finish options are in listing photos).

Traditional Framing offers either a Distressed Black 1.5” moulding (a worn, brushed finish similar to barn wood) or Lexington 2” contemporary moulding in Black or Iron. Traditional framing has no matting, with a clear and lightweight acrylic to protect the surface, and arrive ready to hang with a finished backing and wire hanger.

Float Framing is a unique and elegant way to set off the print from the edges of the frame; a 1/8” space between the two creates a floating illusion, with deep edges of the frame on all sides creating a beautiful presentation on any wall. Finishes come in Aged Metallic Gray or Champagne with a soft brushed look; Wood in Walnut or Weathered Gray; or Classic Black. Float framing allows the print to be seen without glass between the art and the viewer, and arrives ready to hang with a finished backing, wire hanger and bumpers.

Fine art prints will be shipped in a highly-protective box to ensure they arrive safe and sound.
