After several incredible experiences with bald eagles along the trails of Minnesota, "Ready and Waiting" was created to capture their intensity, fierce focus, and ability to be ready for action in a moment's notice. In my opinion, they are beautiful symbols of the wild, the country, and its people, especially our warriors.
Two sizes of fine art prints are available of the 12x16” hand-engraved original — 11x14” and 16x20”; see a comparison of the sizes in listing pictures. Archival inks on Smooth Matte fine art paper produce rich velvety blacks and a wide range of tones to capture every detail of the original engraving. Prints have no borders to allow for personal framing options.
The 11x14" print is also available with a heavyweight white double-mat, white core bevel cut, hand-labeled and signed on the mat itself, and ready for a 16x20" frame.
This style of hand-illustrated engraving has been around since the 1800s. A panel of Masonite is covered with white clay and then a thin layer of black India ink on top. Using a small Xacto blade and mini fiberglass brush, I carve through the black ink hair by hair, exposing variable degrees of the white clay beneath.
